Doc. PhDr. Mgr. Jaroslav Balvín, CSc.
Jaroslav Balvín is an associate professor of pedagogy and an expert in the field of pedagogy, andragogy, Romani studies, philosophy of education and adult education. He began his teaching career by graduating from the Faculty of Education in Ústí nad Labem in the field of teaching Czech language and literature and history. After three years of teaching in elementary schools, he became a teacher of foreign students at Charles University while pursuing a degree in philosophy of history. He then became an assistant professor at the Faculty of Education in Ústí nad Labem. From there he went back to primary school after 1990. Three years later he became director of the Institute for the Study of Romani Culture. Subsequently, he became a specialist for national minorities at Prague City Hall. In 2005 he defended his associate professorship in Nitra and from 2006 to 2011 he became the director and associate professor of the Institute of Romani Studies at the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra.
